LAHORE: In a groundbreaking move, the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” program, for instance, the construction of houses has achieved an important milestone since its beginning, with more than 35,500 families completing building their homes.
Across the province, a total of 117,159 families have benefited from the program, while 72,254 houses are currently under construction.
So far, more than PKR 142 billion has been allocated for the construction of these homes. According to the spokesperson of the Housing Department, thousands of families benefit from interest-free loans for 9 years.
Interest-free loans will be given to 500,000 families for house construction over the next 5 years.
The success of the program is a unique example of the Punjab Chief Minister’s vision, offering extremely easy conditions for low-income families.
Other positive impacts of the program include the promotion of the construction industry, as permanent house building is ongoing in villages and towns.
