LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister’s ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ program has yet another achievement as 166,000 interest-free housing loans were given to needy beneficiaries.
Till now, over Rs215.76 billion has been disbursed under the programme, while 105,594 houses have already been completed, which provided homes for thousands of families.
Construction work is progressing at an extremely rapid pace on 28,453 houses throughout Punjab, while work will begin shortly on another 32,048 houses.
The spokesman said that more than Rs14.5 billion had already been recovered through loan repayment, while over 1.2 million applications for the initiative had been received, indicating significant public demand.
Interest-free housing finance continued to be offered to lower-income families, making the programme one of Pakistan’s largest affordable housing finance programs
To date, 91,434 men have constructed their homes under the scheme while 14,007 women have successfully built their own houses under the ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’scheme.
Transgenders Also Get Relief
“23 transgender beneficiaries have also been supported under our ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ program. 60,139 homes have been completed in rural Punjab, and 45,325 homes have been completed in urban areas,” he said.
Provincial minister for housing, Bilal Yaseen said that the main objective behind launching the scheme ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ is to ensure affordable housing facilities to poor segments of our society, and we are making all out efforts to increase its reach as well as transparency.
