ISLAMABAD: In a recent development, Islamabad’s law enforcement agencies have made significant progress in the investigation of the recent suicide attack on the judicial complex, with key revelations emerging from intelligence sources.
According to officials, the real brother of the facilitator tailor involved in the plot has now been taken into custody. The man, identified as Bilal, was detained after investigators earlier arrested his brother Shah Munir, who had allegedly helped the suicide bomber.
Sources say the explosive-laden jacket used in the attack was kept in the tailor’s possession. Despite knowing about the suicide bomber and the presence of the jacket, the tailor allegedly facilitated him, raising serious concerns about the network behind the assault.
Investigators have also uncovered that the suicide bomber initially attempted an attack at the Faizabad checkpoint before targeting the judicial complex. According to intelligence sources, the bomber reached Faizabad with the intention to detonate; however, he failed to pull the pin of the explosive device, forcing him to abandon the attempt and return to Rawalpindi.
A few days later, the accused attacked the Islamabad Judicial Complex, indicating premeditation and multiple attempts to strike high-security targets.
Security agencies continue to probe the network, with more arrests expected as the investigation expands.
