ISLAMABAD: Disappointing news has come out for technology users in Pakistan, especially iPhone users. Where Apple has indicated a delay in enabling the 5G option on its handsets.

According to media reports, the company has informed Pakistani authorities that it will provide full support for 5G service for iPhone users only after assessing the market size and other factors in 2027.

According to officials of the Ministry of IT and Telecom, this decision by Apple has been taken due to the limited size of the local market and other technical and commercial factors.

Experts say that Apple’s market in Pakistan has been affected due to heavy taxes imposed on imported smartphones, especially iPhones. Which is becoming a major reason for this delay.

On the other hand, 5G services are already available on Samsung smartphones. While local telecom operators are also introducing 5G services in phases.

It may be recalled that the government had completed the auction of 5G spectrum worth $507 million in March this year. Under which steps are being taken to improve the provision of high-speed internet in the country.

According to telecom officials, 5G service has bee Major hurdle in the launch of 5Gn launched on a trial basis in various areas. However, iPhone users will have to wait longer to benefit from this advanced technology.
