Balochistan honour killing: Married couple shot dead after seven years

QUETTA: In yet another case of honour killing in Balochistan, Brothers allegedly killed their pregnant sister and her husband for marrying in Noshki district, according to media reports.

According to the Levies, Shoaib Khan, a resident of Panjgur, was coming to Quetta with his pregnant wife and brother.

They were in a private hotel near the Lakpas Noshki Cross in Mastung when armed men opened fire on the couple and killed them.

On receiving information, the Levies reached the spot and took the bodies to the hospital. The Levies said that ‘Muhammad Shoaib of Chitkan area of Panjgur had a court marriage with Benazir, a resident of Hazarganji area of Quetta, about seven years ago.

Following the marriage, Shoaib had reached an agreement with his in-laws. Yesterday, the brothers of the deceased had invited both the husband and wife to Quetta on the pretext of an invitation.

The deceased left for Quetta. As it became dark on the way, they spent the night in a hotel near Lakpas.

In the morning, the deceased’s brothers called to find out her location, and upon reaching there, they killed the couple.

The accused fled after firing. Levies registered a case and started searching for the accused.

This marks the second honour killing case reported in Balochistan, as earlier this month, a couple was killed in the Degari area of Balochistan. The incident sparked outrage online across the country.
