LONDON: The Indian Legends team, which refused to play against the Green Shirts in the first leg of the World Championship of Legends 2025, will now face Pakistan in the semi-finals of the event.

In the crucial match of the World Championship of Legends ongoing in England on Tuesday, the Indian champions defeated the West Indies champions to qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament.

Playing first, the West Indies set a target of 145 runs for the Indian Legends in the allotted 20 overs.

India needed to complete this target within 14.1 overs so that they could qualify for the semi-finals on the basis of a better run rate.

However, a brilliant half-century by Stuart Binny led the Indin side to achieve the target in 13.2 overs for the loss of 5 wickets and also became the fourth and last team to reach the semi-finals.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Pakistan champions defeated the Australian champions by 10 wickets to take first position on the points table.

Australia and South Africa had already qualified for the semi-finals. After India’s win, the semi-final lineup was completed.

Now, in the first semi-final of the event, the top team in the points table, Pakistan, and the fourth-ranked India will face each other on July 31.

The second semi-final of the event will be between South Africa and Australia on the same day.

Notably, the Pakistan-India clash in the first phase of the World Championship of Legends 2025 was canceled. Indian players refused to play the match against Pakistan.

According to sources, Indian cricketers Shikhar Dhawan, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, and Harbhajan Singh opposed playing the match against Pakistan, due to Shahid Afridi’s inclusion in the playing XI.

Following that, a statement was issued by the tournament organizers, and regret was expressed over the cancellation of the match between Pakistan and India.

However, it now remains to be seen whether the Indian players will face Pakistan in the semi-finals of the event or refuse to play against the Green Shirts once again.
