Big relief expected for electricity users across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Electric consumers across the country, including K-Electric, are likely to get a big relief of Rs 63.94 billion in the form of a quarterly adjustment.

According to the NEPRA announcement, the DISCOs have submitted an application for adjustment for the first quarter of the calendar year 2026, the application will be heard on May 19.

The application states that there was a reduction of Rs 36.83 billion in capacity charges from January to March, a reduction of Rs 11.24 billion in system usage charges and market operation fees.

The DISCOs’ application states that there is a request for a reduction of Rs 23.51 billion in incremental units, the final decision on providing relief to consumers will be taken after the NEPRA hearing.
