Cement prices see decline nationwide
ISLAMABAD: Cement prices in the country have seen a slight decline during the past week.
According to official statistics, cement rates were recorded to decrease especially in northern cities at the beginning of the new year, which provided partial relief to those associated with the construction sector.
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the average retail price of cement per sack in the northern areas in the week ending January 1 was Rs 1387. This price is lower than the previous week, when the average price per sack in northern cities was Rs 1391. Thus, prices decreased by 0.27 percent in a week.
On the other hand, there was no change in cement prices in southern cities. According to statistics, the average retail price of cement per sack in the southern areas in the week ending January 1 was Rs 1446, which is the same as the previous week. This indicates that prices remained stable in the southern markets.
According to the details of the northern cities, the average price of cement per sack in Islamabad was Rs 1367. In Rawalpindi, it was Rs 1361, in Gujranwala, Rs 1420 and in Sialkot, it was sold at Rs 1400 per sack. In Lahore, the average price of cement was recorded at Rs 1457 while in Faisalabad it was Rs 1380.
Similarly, in Sargodha, it was Rs 1400, in Multan, Rs 1411, in Bahawalpur, Rs 1413, in Peshawar, Rs 1353 and the lowest price was seen in Bannu at Rs 1300 per sack.
In the southern cities, the average price of cement per sack in Karachi was Rs 1379. In Hyderabad, it was Rs 1428, in Sukkur, Rs 1530 and in Larkana, Rs 1407. In Quetta, the average price of cement per sack was Rs 1490 while in Khuzdar, it was Rs 1443.
