ISLAMABAD: According to the latest figures released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics(PBS), the cement prices are going high with a small variation in prices in some regions last week.

Market Analysts are viewing these trends as a key indicator of boosting in the infrastructure and real estate market. This has consequences for existing infrastructure projects and residential development operations around the country.

Northern regions of the country show a minimal high spike of 0.95 % increase in the cement bag, which now costs Rs 1,425 from the last week’s rate of Rs 1,411.

However, the southern region records a small decrease in the rate of cement; the cement bag now costs Rs 1384, decreasing from Rs 1,387 of last week.

The city-specific analysis indicates that cement costs in Lahore are the highest in the country, at Rs 1,497 per bag. Bahawalpur is close behind at Rs 1,470, followed by Gujranwala and Sialkot at Rs 1,440 each.

In southern Pakistan, Sukkur and Quetta had the highest regional pricing per bag at Rs 1,450, followed by Larkana at Rs 1,416. Prices in Hyderabad and Khuzdar were also Rs 1,337, with Karachi offering the most competitive pricing countrywide at Rs 1,313 per bag.

Market analysts believe that these price patterns will have an impact on construction spending and project delays during the second quarter of 2025, particularly for government-led infrastructure efforts and private sector ventures.
