PESHAWAR: The Chief Minister Sohail Afridi announced the formation of an inquiry commission to investigate the May 9 attack on Radio Pakistan.

An important meeting of the provincial cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi.

He said that the commission will collect all evidence, especially CCTV footage, determine those responsible, and present its report to the cabinet.

The Chief Minister said that political differences have their place, but peace is the common goal of all of us.

He thanked all the political parties that participated in the peace jirga yesterday and said that the unity of all forces is indispensable for lasting peace in the province.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister made it clear that all the resolutions of the provincial assembly will be fully implemented.

He said that the most important resolution is related to the abolition of ‘Action in Aid of Civil Powers’, which is against basic human rights.

The Chief Minister, while declaring the establishment of an interest-free Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as one of his top priorities, said that the province is formulating a comprehensive policy to get rid of the interest system and an Islamic investment model will be introduced soon.

He said that the provincial assembly is unanimous in its opinion that founding chairman Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi are being mistreated in jail.

He expressed regret that the elected chief minister of 45 million people is not being allowed to meet his founding chairman.

Sohail Afridi said that he wants to meet Imran Khan and get government policy guidelines, but this is not being allowed.

The Chief Minister said that it is their fundamental right to allow the founding chairman and his wife to meet their personal physician.

Stating his policy priorities, Sohail Afridi said that all the reform measures of the government will be taken in consultation with the elected representatives.

Zero tolerance policy against corruption will be strictly implemented, and government funds will not be allowed to be used for personal promotion.

He directed the cabinet members to make all decisions based on merit and complete transparency.

All laws will be reviewed, and those laws that contain provisions against public interest will be abolished.

The Chief Minister directed that necessary amendments should be suggested by identifying the loopholes so that the government’s legislation can truly protect the public interest.
