ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a warning for mobile phone users against sharing misleading, threatening, defamatory, blasphemous, and anti-state content.

According to a statement issued by the telecom regulator, the mobile phone users have been requested to be responsible on social media platforms and have been asked not to share blasphemous, pornographic, and anti-state material and fake news on social media platforms.

PTA has requested users not to post any illegal posts on social media platforms. It has further been requested by the telecom authority to report such posts to the PTA and the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).

“It has been requested to avoid sharing any sort of illegal, defamatory, blasphemous, and false posts which may affect the reputation of state institutions, judiciary, and individuals,” the telecom authority posted on X.

“This act is a punishable offense under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016,” PTA added.
