CM Maryam announces new phase of e-bike program

Federal Govt to provide 116,000 e-bikes on installment

LAHORE: Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has again decided to introduce e-bikes on easiest installments for young students.

A meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

It was informed in the meeting that Punjab has also crossed the milestone of establishing the manufacturing industry of electric buses, the assembly plant has started assembling electric buses in Punjab, Punjab is now not only running buses but also making buses.

The Chief Minister has again decided to introduce e-bikes on easiest installments for young students, students will be given one lakh e-bikes in a year, the Punjab government will give a subsidy of Rs 70,000 on each e-bike, young students will have to make a down payment of Rs 14,000 to acquire an e-bike.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif herself will make the down payment and registration fee of the e-bikes for the female students. Students will have to pay only Rs 2100 per month in interest-free easy installments to get e-bikes. Punjab government employees will also be able to get e-bikes on easy installments.

1500 buses will be operated in 91 tehsils of Gujranwala, Gujrat, Rawalpindi, Multan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Faisalabad, Sargodha divisions. In the first phase, 1500 buses will be operated in 91 tehsils of Punjab. PC-1 has been approved for the purchase of 1500 electric buses at the tehsil level.

189 new electric buses are ready for soft launching in different districts. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif hinted at an online inauguration, electric bus launches in Kot Addo, Tala Gang, Taunsa Sharif have also been ordered to be sent immediately, buses have also been ordered to run in Vehari, Lodhran, while orders have been given to increase the number of electric buses in Vehari, Lodhran and Nankana. Maryam Nawaz said that wherever there are less than 15 buses, they should be sent there, at least 15 buses should be there, electric buses and manufacturing industry have also been brought to Punjab.
