LAHORE: An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to protect the lives and property of the people.
On this occasion, the implementation of fire audit, a two-week ultimatum, thermal drones, geo-tagged fire hydrants, and building codes 2022 was reviewed.
In the meeting, it has been decided to conduct a fire safety audit of all markets, buildings, schools, and high-rise buildings across the province.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also ordered to conduct fire drills across the province. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has given a deadline of two weeks to complete fire safety regulations and has directed that full implementation of the Building Safety Act.
In the meeting, it has been decided to assign special powers to the para-force and also establish a special cell for the implementation of the Building Safety Act.
Furthermore, it has been made mandatory to keep the entrance and exit routes of all buildings across the province clear. It was also made mandatory to have correct and clear safety signage in all buildings.
The meeting was informed in the briefing that WASA will ensure the installation of fire hydrants at geo-tagged locations as identified by Rescue 1122. Rescue 1122 Punjab will be equipped with modern technology, including thermal and other drones for firefighting.
The briefing further informed that external fire hydrants will be installed in all buildings in Punjab within two weeks. Rescue 1122 will geo-tag important locations across the province.
The Punjab government will consult stakeholders of all industrial institutions for human and building safety. The briefing informed that only Rescue 1122 Punjab in South Asia has UN certification.
During the same year, Rescue 1122 services will be introduced in all tehsils of Punjab. Due to the campaign to eliminate encroachments in Punjab, the reach of rescue services has further improved.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that courage, wisdom, and technology are also necessary to deal with fires in buildings. Building safety must be ensured; those who play with the lives of the people have no place in Punjab.
Every tehsil, every market, every building, every school, every high-rise in Punjab will now be safe.
