KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamran Tesori has demanded a judicial inquiry from the government into the Gul Plaza tragedy.
He said that even after this tragic incident, the real facts have not come to light and the affected families are desperate for justice.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, the Sindh Governor said that even after a week of the tragedy, those responsible have not been identified. He alleged that politics is being played on the issue and efforts are being made to save the real culprits.
Kamran Tesori said that Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah is probably not being informed about the correct situation.
He demanded that the Chief Minister himself go to the spot and see why the rescue machinery is not working properly.
The Sindh Governor raised the question of why the son of the person whose father died in the accident was lathi-charged. He said that the affected mothers are forced to beg for justice, but the government is a silent spectator.
He said that the people can’t pay taxes and sacrifice their lives. If anyone tries to do politics on this issue, he will bring the real facts before everyone.
Kamran Tesori said that the administration has shown criminal negligence and he will not allow it to be covered up.
He made it clear that there should be a complete and transparent judicial inquiry into the Gul Plaza tragedy so that those responsible can be brought to justice.
The Sindh Governor further said that he will also request Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to come to Karachi himself and see the level of injustice being done to the people.
He said that the citizens of Karachi are not waiting for more promises but for practical justice.
