DHAKA: Bangladesh may face a huge financial loss if it boycotts the ICC T20 World Cup.
According to Indian media, Bangladesh will lose 325 million taka if it does not participate in the World Cup.
According to the report, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) may lose about 60 percent of its annual revenue, as well as broadcast and sponsorship income.
According to Indian media, despite the willingness of Bangladeshi players to play the World Cup, Sports Advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul decided not to play the World Cup.
It should be remembered that Bangladesh had decided not to go to India due to security concerns.
According to Indian media, Bangladesh’s future bilateral series against India may also be in jeopardy due to the boycott of the World Cup. A bilateral series between the two teams is also scheduled this year.
Earlier, Bangladesh had decided not to go to India to participate in the Men’s T20 World Cup,” said Youth and Sports Adviser to the interim government, Asif Nazrul, on Thursday, a day after the International Cricket Council (ICC) rejected their demand to hold their matches in Sri Lanka instead of India.
He announced a meeting with the chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Aminul Islam Bulbul, and the players of the national team.
Asif Nazrul, while speaking to the media, said the government can never believe the ICC’s claim of having a significantly improved security situation amid the crisis.
“There is no place for the Bangladesh team to go to contest in the ICC T20 World Cup since the security situation in India has not been altered,” he said.
Nevertheless, he said that the BCB’s undertakings regarding the change of site would continue, as BCB will approach the ICC again today regarding the same.
