ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has asserted that nothing is more important than national security, saying that no movement or individual can surpass it.
Addressing the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, he stressed that there is a need for coordination among all elements of national power to achieve lasting stability.
He highlighted the need for better governance and stressed the need for Pakistan to adopt a “hard state” approach, questioning how long the country can continue to sacrifice lives under the “soft state” model.
The COAS urged religious scholars to expose the extremists’ distorted interpretations of Islam.
General Munir reiterated that Pakistan’s security must be given top priority, above political and personal interests, and a unified national narrative is needed.
He sent a clear message, expressing his determination to defeat those who try to weaken Pakistan through terrorism and their facilitators.
Expressing his strong faith in Allah, the Army Chief said that Pakistan will ultimately overcome all challenges.
