Court approves 4 day physical remand of TikToker Sana Yousaf’s killer

ISLAMABAD: A District and Sessions Court in Islamabad approved a four-day physical remand of Umar Hayat, who is charged with the murder of 17-year-old TikToker Sana Yousaf, on Monday.
The order enables police to continue investigating the assassination that shocked Pakistan. The 17-year-old social media  influencer was assassinated at her Islamabad residence on June 2.
Hayat, 22, was apprehended within 20 hours in Faisalabad as police found the murder weapon and Sanas phone. He allegedly confessed after stating that he did it out of rejection.

Prosecutors Adnan Ali, Raja Naveed Kiyani, and Mazhar Bashir moved an application for a seven-day remand in court, but only got four days approved by Magistrate Muhammad Hafeez.

The court directed a medical check-up of Hayat and his return on June 20, 2025. He was earlier detained in Adiala Jail for an identification parade that confirmed his identity.

The case has evoked outrage, with a call for justice from celebrities and activists. It brings to the forefront the risks to which women influencers in Pakistan are exposedThe police are collecting further evidence to make a solid case under Section 302 for murder.
