Fact Check: Public holiday on September 6 in Pakistan?

ISLAMABAD: It was claimed that the federal government has declared a public holiday on September 6, 2024, across the country to mark Pakistan’s Defense Day.

The notification went viral on social media claiming to have a public holiday on September 6, however, the government has cleared the air on the matter.

Fact Check

In a statement on X, the Federal Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has rejected a notification circulating on social media that declares September 6 as a public holiday in connection with Pakistan’s Defense Day.

Sharing the notification with a ‘fake news’ label on it, the Ministry’s Fact Checker wrote that disseminating fake news is not only unethical and illegal but also a disservice to the nation.

“It is the responsibility of everyone to reject such irresponsible behavior,” the MoIB Fact Checker wrote.
