ISLAMABAD: Senator Faisal Vawda, reacting to the conviction of former ISI Director General Faiz Hameed, said that Pakistan’s important institutions have now started a system of accountability from within themselves.

Vawda said that anyone who harms Pakistan will face strict consequences and that a clear message has been sent across the country that no individual is above the law.

Commenting on the May 9 incidents, he said that he had already warned that no one involved would escape accountability. “The May 9 cases are still pending, and the political party responsible can already see what is written on the wall,” he added.

He further stated that the punishment of Faiz Hameed is only the beginning, asserting that individuals like Athar Minallah should also face accountability and that facilitators of wrongdoing will not be spared.
