ISLAMABAD: In a recent development, the federal information minister, Atta Tarrar, has announced that provide jobs to 37 employees sacked by the digital media platform Nukta.

The federal minister has vowed to provide the employees with jobs within 48 hours.

It is important to note here that earlier Nukta, a newly established digital media outlet, sacked 37 employees to reduce its “Pakistan workforce” as part of a recent organisational restructuring.

Nukta was launched last year with headquarters in Dubai, claiming to “revolutionize the way stories are told in the Middle East, South Asia, and beyond”.

According to the sources, Nukta, owned by Property Tycoon Malik Riaz, laid off employees due to a financial crisis. The sudden restructuring has sent a wave of concern amongst the employees.

It is pertinent to mention that Nukta had employed a large number of people on exuberant salaries, compared to those in the market.

In a statement issued on the LinkedIn account, the media organisation, which has bureau offices across multiple countries, said that it was a difficult step to sack employees.

“We do not take such decisions lightly, and this is a difficult step for us, one that takes into consideration our commitment to long-term sustainability and vision for building the most impactful digital media platforms in the region,” it wrote.

The Nukta stated, “Our hearts are with our impacted colleagues, whose creativity and contributions have been an integral part of our whole story, and for that, we are deeply grateful.”

“With this transition, we aim to move forward to a brighter future, where we continue to live our purpose of bringing clarity and compassion to our audiences from our Dubai and Pakistan offices,” the media organisation said.

It further expressed hope to invite our impacted colleagues [sacked employees] back on the platform.
