ISLAMABAD: The FIA Cyber Crime Wing has arrested a suspect from Sadiqabad for creating and sharing fake videos of state and government officials.
The suspect, identified as Ghulam Nabi, was allegedly misusing artificial intelligence to harm state institutions and public figures.
According to the FIA, the suspect shared edited photos and videos of senior government officials on social media. A case has been registered against him under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
The FIA has recently intensified its operations under PECA, including legal action against political figures. In January 2025, the FIA initiated cases against PTI leader Dr. Shahbaz Gul and YouTuber Moeed Pirzada for allegedly engaging in anti-state activities and spreading propaganda against state institutions.
In another case, the FIA launched an investigation against actress Nadia Hussain after she accused an FIA official of demanding a bribe in connection with her husband’s arrest. The agency clarified that the call was from an impostor impersonating an officer.
