ISLAMABAD: The National Database Registration Authority (NADRA)  has launched a biometric verification facility based on facial recognition.

This facility has eliminated the problem of citizens having difficulty verifying their fingerprints.

A statement issued by NADRA said that, on the instructions of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior, NADRA has taken several steps, and the definition of biometric has been expanded through amendments to the National Identity Card laws.

The statement said that a biometric verification facility based on facial recognition has been launched.

A biometric verification facility has also been provided on the Paki Mobile app, and biometric verification certificates based on facial recognition will be issued at NADRA centers from January 20.

NADRA says that citizens will be able to obtain a certificate for a small fee if needed. If fingerprints are not verified, the citizen will go to the nearest NADRA registration center.

After the facial recognition process is completed, NADRA will issue a certificate. It will have a photo, CNIC number, name, parentage, unique tracking ID, and QR code. This certificate will be valid for 7 days.

According to the announcement, NADRA is fully prepared to implement this system. Necessary steps have been requested from the relevant government and private institutions.

After January 20, complaints regarding the availability of this facility should be made to the relevant institution or department. After the issuance of a digital ID, this facility will also be available on the Pak ID mobile app.
