Five children drown in Indus River near Hala

MATIARI: In an unfortunate incident, at least five children were drowned while bathing in the Indus River near Old Hala, in Matiari district of Sindh, it emerged on Tuesday.

According to the details, the children were bathing in the river at the Old Hala picnic point when they entered deep water and drowned. Three of them were saved by local people.

Rescue teams rushed to the spot immediately after being informed. According to Deputy Commissioner Matiari, the dead bodies of two children identified as Faizan Qureshi 12, and Abdul Razzaq Qureshi aged 10 years.

The dead bodies of the children were handed over to the families, DC Matiari said.
