RAWALPINDI: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Defence Forces, held an impprtant meeting with Ahle Tashi ulema in Rawalpindi on Thursday, where discussions focused on the role of religious scholars in promoting national security and social harmony.
Addressing the gathering, the Field Marshal emphasized that religious scholars play a vital role in strengthening national unity, fostering communal understanding, and ensuring social cohesion.
He noted that ulema act as a bridge within society, helping to guide communities towards peace and stability.
He urged religious leaders to actively counter the spread of misinformation and sectarian narratives, stressing that such elements pose a serious threat to national harmony. “Scholars must stand against false information and divisive ideologies,” he said.
Touching on regional security, the Field Marshal issued a clear warning that any attempt to use Afghan territory against Pakistan would be met with immediate and decisive consequences.
He reiterated that under Operation Ghazab-Lil-Haq, security forces will continue to pursue terrorist groups and dismantle their networks completely.
He further called on Afghan authorities to ensure that their soil is not used by elements targeting Pakistan, adding that terrorism in all its forms will be dealt with firmly.
Highlighting internal stability, he said no individual or group would be allowed to exploit religious sentiments to incite violence across the country.
Participants of the meeting strongly condemned all forms of violence and expressed full support for Pakistan’s security institutions in their efforts to maintain peace and stability.
