Four tourists killed, five injured as jeep falls into ravine in Skardu

GILGIT: 4 people were killed and 5 injured when a jeep carrying tourists fell into a ditch in Bashu valley of Skardu, here on Wednesday.

According to the spokesperson of the Gilgit-Baltistan government, there were nine tourists in the vehicle who belonged to Punjab. After the accident, Rescue 1122 teams from Rondo and Ghamba reached the spot and immediately shifted the dead and injured to Regional Headquarters Hospital and Benazir Hospital Ghamba Skardu.

Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan has expressed deep sorrow over the heart-breaking incident. Taking notice of the accident, he has expressed his condolences to the bereaved families.

The chief minister has directed the health secretary and administrative authorities to ensure the best possible care of the injured. Apart from his condolence message, he has expressed his solidarity with the families affected by the tragedy. Furthermore, Gulbar Khan has ordered that the dead bodies of the dead should be brought to their native areas immediately.
