ISLAMABAD: Protests continued outside the offices of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) over the alleged Gold Box online fraud case, as demonstrators accused authorities of delaying action against the suspects.
According to Metatrine representatives, police personnel were called to the scene to disperse protesters after tensions escalated outside the NCIA office.
Protesters alleged that NCIA officials were attempting to release suspects involved in the online fraud case instead of registering formal cases against them.
Metatrine claimed that the real owner of the company is currently abroad, while a Pakistani partner allegedly owns only one percent of the business. Sources further alleged that different bank accounts linked to the company were opened in three separate banks.
According to sources, only Rs 8 lakh were found in one accessible account, while the main financial assets are allegedly controlled through an online banking portal managed by the owner abroad.
Sources also stated that the arrest of the Pakistani partner could not yet be carried out. Protesters accused the National Cyber Investigation Agency of failing to register a proper case against the suspects despite growing public pressure.
