ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to reorganize the federal Investigation Agency (FIA), approving the Purchase of modern technology and required weapons.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the FIA headquarters in Islamabad, laid flowers on the graves of the martyrs of the FIA.
and paid tribute to the great sacrifices of the martyrs in powerful words.
Later, he chaired a high-level meeting at the FIA headquarters. The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Secretary Interior, Chairman CDA, and senior officers of the FIA.
It was decided to reorganize the FIA on modern lines, for which the Interior Minister has sought a comprehensive plan.
He directed that work immediately start on necessary amendments in the laws and rules to make the institution more functional.
The Interior Minister immediately approved modern technology and required weapons for the FIA. Mohsin Naqvi said that the FIA will have to meet the expectations of the people with the government.
“More incentives will be given to the FIA based on its performance, the mafia involved in illegal immigration should be dealt with with an iron hand, and a ruthless crackdown should be carried out and a zero tolerance policy should be adopted”, he added.
He said that it is the primary responsibility of the FIA to stop the elements responsible for the country’s disrepute. The immigration process at airports should be made easy and convenient for the convenience of citizens.
The Interior Minister directed the FIA to establish fast-track counters and make the curriculum according to modern lines. Given the shortage of staff, he directed immediate recruitment on the approved vacant posts.
The Interior Minister sought a master plan for the renovation of the headquarters building and said that the FIA Academy should be shifted to the newly allotted land. Mohsin Naqvi also directed that the renovation of the Karachi Zonal Office be done as soon as possible.
Director General FIA Raja Rifat Mukhtar briefed the Interior Minister on the ongoing reforms in the agency.
