govt announces holiday in district Sheikhupura on THIS date

SHEIKHUPURA: A local holiday has been declared in Sheikhupura on the occasion of the 228th Urs of renowned Sufi poet Syed Waris Shah.

Deputy Commissioner Sheikhupura Shahid Imran Marth issued a notification of a local holiday on September 24.

The notification issued by DC Sheikhupura states that a local holiday will be observed in Sheikhupura on September 24 on the occasion of the Urs of the great Sufi poet Syed Waris Shah.

Government and semi-government offices across the district will remain closed on Wednesday, September 24.

The notification said that the influx of pilgrims and devotees will continue on the occasion of the Urs, in view of which the district administration has formulated a security and traffic plan.

The notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Sheikhupura further said that the Urs of Waris Shah is an important part of regional culture and spirituality, and the Urs celebrations will continue for three days.
