KARACHI: In another tragic incident, a dumper truck crushed a mother-daughter duo to death on the Lahore-Sheikhupura road, citing sources. As per the rescue sources, the incident took place in Sheikhupura where a speeding dumper truck hit a motorcycle, killing mother mother-daughter duo and injuring her son.
The rescue sources also said that the injured have been shifted to the nearby hospital. In another incident earlier, a dumper truck claimed the life of a wheelchair bound man at Steel Mill Morh in Karachi.
Traffic Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shoukat Ali Khatian said that the handicapped individual was struck by a dumper while crossing the road.
The driver tried to flee from the scene but was mobbed by the citizens while traffic officials blocked the dumper with vehicles. SSP Khatian said that irate citizens broke the dumper truck‘s windows and attacked the driver, and he was subsequently taken into custody.
Innocent fatality adds to Karachi‘s tragic tally of deaths due to traffic accidents, with nearly 500 deaths reported in 2024 due to colliding with heavy vehicles.
