Sindh govt to provide pink scooters to women THIS week

KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to provide free electric scooters for women under the Pink Scooters program.

A key meeting chaired by Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon reviewed the details of the program.

Secretary Transport Asad Zamin, Sindh Mass Transit Authority MD Kanwal Bhutto, and other officers attended the meeting.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the provincial government is taking a revolutionary step this week to provide facilities for women and female students, which will make their daily transportation easier.

This scheme will not only save time and costs but will also provide women with a safe and dignified travel facility.

He said that this program is specially designed for women who depend on public transport for education, employment or other needs.

The Sindh Mass Transit Authority is compiling a record of the applicant women and female students, while electric scooters will be allotted based on merit and need.

The Information Minister further said that the government has developed a transparent and easy mechanism so that as many women can benefit from this facility.

The Sindh government wants women to be independent in every aspect of their lives and this scheme will prove to be a positive step in this direction.

He advised female students and working women to take full advantage of this facility so that they can fully participate in education, employment and other activities.

Age criteria

The initiative was conceived to minimize environmental pollution and would be provided for women between 20-45 years, Sharjeel Memon said.

Driving Licence

Eligible women will be provided with 60 days to acquire a valid driving licence to be eligible for the scheme,” stated the minister while addressing the reporters in Karachi on Wednesday.
