Gujranwala couple killed for honour near Karachi’s China port

KARACHI: In a tragic incident, two dead bodies were found near the Port China area of the provincial capital Karachi, according to police.

According to police, both man and women hails from a village in Gujranwala city of Punjab, allegedly killed for honour.

The deceased have been identified as Sajid Masih and Sana Asif, both in their 30s, as the police have completed the identification process.

Both the couple allegedly left their homes on July 15 to marry, as per the police investigation.

However, on July 17, Sana’s brother Asif lodged an FIR of kidnapping at Tatlay Aali Police Station in Gujranwala, naming Sajid and four others.

According to DIG Raza, Waqas has been arrested for investigation, and Karachi police are working closely with Gujranwala police. A Karachi police team may go to Gujranwala to look into the situation further if necessary.

A case will be filed under state prosecution as no family members have come forward with information on the deaths, according to the police.

According to preliminary evidence, a close relative might have been responsible for the murders.

The bodies of the victims, which showed evidence of torture, were found close to the Clifton China Port one day earlier. Two 9mm bullet shells were discovered close to the location, and Boat Basin Police verified that both were shot dead.
