LAHORE: Punjab Housing Minister Bilal Yasin says that under the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” program, loans of Rs 5 to 1 million will now be available for house repairs or roofing.
According to the details, the Punjab government has further expanded the scope of the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” program to provide relief to low-income and homeless people.
In a high-level meeting held under the chairmanship of Punjab Housing Minister Bilal Yasin, it has been decided that now loans of Rs 5 to 1 million will be provided for the construction of new houses as well as for the repair and roofing of dilapidated houses.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary Housing, President Bank of Punjab and DG Phat and gave a detailed briefing to the provincial minister on the progress of the program so far.
The briefing said that interest-free loans have been issued to 170,000 families under this revolutionary scheme so far, while the government has set a big target for the next financial year, under which interest-free loans will be provided to another 100,000 families for the construction and repair of houses.
This scheme will mainly benefit low-income, homeless and deserving families living in shabby or dilapidated houses.
Provincial Minister for Housing Bilal Yasin, while addressing the press conference and meeting, said that on the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, all loans are being provided completely interest-free, low-cost and under a very transparent procedure.
Bilal Yasin, while clarifying the procedure, said that “for the convenience of the citizens, this loan of Rs. 5 to 1 million can be obtained through the e-portal, which will save the public from going to offices and standing in long lines and they will be able to apply online from home.”
