LAHORE: The sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, Aleema Khan, has confirmed that Imran Khan’s sons, Suleiman Khan and Qasim Khan, have started the process of traveling to Pakistan.

Aleema Khan, in a social media post on X (formerly Twitter), reported that Imran Khan’s sons had applied for their visas a few days back at the Pakistan High Commission in London.

She further informed that they were told by the High Commission that they are waiting for approval from the Ministry of Interior in Islamabad on visa clearance.

“A couple of days ago, Suleiman and Kasim applied for their visas at the Pakistan High Commission in London. The ambassador has indicated that he is waiting for approval from the Ministry of Interior in Islamabad,” Aleema Khan tweeted on X (previously Twitter).

It should be added here that Suleiman (28) and Qasim (26) complained for the first time in May this year about their father’s detention.

Earlier this month, Aleema Khan revealed that the brothers intend to visit America before they arrive in Pakistan as part of the campaign for Imran Khan’s release.

The visa application by Suleiman and Kasim occurs as Imran Khan’s legal and political woes have mounted.

Imprisoned since August 2023, Khan has been found guilty in several cases, including the Toshakhana reference and cipher case. His relatives and lawyers have often pointed to suspected human rights abuses and denial of access to impartial legal processes.

In recent months, Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan has been more and more outspoken, not just regarding her brother’s legal troubles but also regarding the politics in Pakistan in general. She has vehemently accused the government of victimizing the founder of the PTI and curtailing democratic freedom.
