ISLAMABAD: The death of 17-year-old Ishal Fatima has sparked widespread public concern, with several key questions still unanswered as investigations continue.
According to her family, Ishal left her home on June 4 and did not return. Initially, relatives believed she was staying at her friend Dua’s house.
On the morning of June 7, Ishal’s mother received a phone call from an unidentified individual informing her that her daughter was in critical condition and undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
Hospital management later notified police that several young men had dropped off an unconscious girl at the facility before fleeing the scene.
Police subsequently transferred Ishal to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, where she later passed away.
A case was registered on the complaint of Ishal’s father under charges related to kidnapping, alleged sexual assault, and administration of a poisonous substance. Additional charges, including murder, were later added to the case.
Using CCTV footage, investigators identified the individuals who had brought Ishal to the hospital. Police say three suspects have been arrested, and the vehicle allegedly used in the incident has been recovered.
An initial medical report indicated possible sexual assault and the suspected use of intoxicating or poisonous substances. Samples have been sent to Lahore for forensic analysis to determine the exact cause of death.
According to police, the incident appears to have been premeditated, although investigations remain ongoing.
Authorities say further details will depend on forensic results and ongoing investigations.
