Islamabad traffic police issues advisory for heavy traffic on December 8 and 9

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police issued a special advisory on Sunday, informing citizens of the unusual traffic pressure on major highways from 11 am to 12 noon on December 8 and from 9 pm to 10 pm on December 9.

According to the traffic police, unnecessary travel should be avoided during these times, alternative routes should be used and travel should be planned in advance. Places where heavy rush is expected include Faisal Avenue, Islamabad Expressway and Srinagar Highway.

Police have closed Express Chowk and Marriott Gate for entry into the red zone, while citizens have been instructed to use Serena Road, Nadra Road or Margalla Road as alternative routes.

The advisory also provided details of alternative routes for those coming from different directions:

Citizens coming to Islamabad from Rawalpindi can use Rawal Road, Ninth Avenue, Faqir Api Road or Srinagar Highway.

For those traveling from Islamabad to Rawalpindi, the route from Zero Point or Srinagar Highway to Ninth Avenue has been suggested.

People coming from Murree or Bhara Kahu can take Korang Road, Bani Gala Route, Park Road or Lahtra Road.

According to the Islamabad Traffic Police, officers will remain stationed at key locations to maintain traffic flow and provide assistance to citizens.

Citizens can stay informed about the latest situation through ITP Radio 92.4 FM and the official social media platforms of Islamabad Police.
