ITP launches major crackdown against traffic voilation

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police have initiated a strict crackdown on Islamabad’s tinted glass vehicles and cars using non-standard number plates. For this purpose, 18 checkpoints have been established across the district to implement traffic laws.

Chief Traffic Officer Captain (R) Hamza Humayun said no leniency would be given to violators. He warned that vehicles found with black-tinted windows or improper number plates would face legal action without exception.

According to police officials, the checkpoints have been established at key entry and exit points, as well as busy roads, for maximum coverage. Traffic wardens have been directed to check vehicles thoroughly and take immediate action against violators.

The move aims to improve road safety, curb criminal activity, and ensure more transparency on the roads by making vehicle identification easier.

According to officials, tinted glass is commonly misused for illegal activities and poses a serious security risk. Accordingly, the Islamabad Traffic Police urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement and make sure their vehicles are in compliance with traffic laws.

Authorities also said the drive against tinted glass vehicles in Islamabad will be taken forward over the coming days and might be expanded further, if needed.
