ISLAMABAD: The Monal, a famous eatery in Islamabad, announced its closure following the Supreme Court’s June 11 judgment, which directed all restaurants in the Margalla Hills National Park in Islamabad to be closed.

In a statement shared on Instagram, Islamabad’s famous hilltop restaurant announced that they are ending its operations on September 11, 2024, as per the Chief Justice of Pakistan’s directives.

“Dear valued customers, Thank you for your trust and for giving us a chance to serve you to the best of our abilities, for giving us recognition, appreciation, and a place in your heart,” the statement added.

Moreover, the Monal administration said, “Since 2006, it has been an absolute pleasure for the Monal family to serve and showcase a positive image of Pakistan and its beautiful people.”

The restaurant conveyed a difficult farewell to the citizens, adding that the journey was full of success stories and emotions for the team affiliated with us.

Earlier on June 11, the Supreme Court ordered to close all restaurants including The Monal situated in Islamabad’s Margalla Hills National Park within three months.

According to the details, Monal Restaurant voluntarily agreed to relocate the restaurant in three months. All other restaurants in the National Park area have also been instructed to transfer within three months.

During the hearing, CJP Qazi Faiz Isa remarked that commercial activities could not be allowed in the National Park area and sought details of all other restaurants located in Margalla Hills National Park.

Chief Justice instructed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) that if the lease is intended anywhere outside the national park, priority should be given to the affected restaurants. The restaurants established in the National Park should be completely abolished in three months, the SC verdict said.
