LAHORE: PTI leader Omar Ayub on Wednesday, criticized the recent amendment to the Election Act 2017, calling it an effort to protect the government from legal actions against cases.

Speaking to the media outside the anti-terrorism court in Lahore, Ayub said, “There are already 39 declared members of the PTI in the house; they won’t succeed in halting the PTI’s momentum.”

He accused the government of violating the constitution and vowed to take the matter to the Supreme Court to reverse the legislation.

Additionally, Ayub also blamed the PPP and the Muslim League for their involvement in the IPP agreements and highlighted the dire situation in Karachi, Baluchistan, and Punjab.

Moreover, “The economic conditions are severe, and the budget, made by the IMF, is economic terrorism against the people of Pakistan,” he stated. Ayub denied any dialogue with the government, insisting that fresh elections are their only demand.

He criticized the hike in electricity and gas tariffs as “rubbing salt over wounds” and accused the government of filling their pockets with billions of rupees.

He urged the government to come to its senses, saying, “Don’t rub salt on the wounds of the hard-working, honest people.”
