ITP officer suspended for assault on ABN News team

ISLAMABAD: A traffic police officer, Ahmed Gul, has been suspended after assaulting a team from Ausaf Broadcasting Network (ABN) News, dragging their vehicle and threatening to file an FIR.

The incident prompted SSP Hamza Humayoun to take immediate action, suspending the officer and ordering a formal inquiry. The SP Traffic has been directed to complete the investigation within two days and submit a detailed report.

SSP Hamza described the officer’s behavior toward civilians as “unacceptable and intolerable,” emphasizing that such conduct by law enforcement will not be tolerated.

The inquiry aims to ensure accountability and prevent similar incidents in the future.
