Jamshoro declares local holiday on Feb 7 for Urs of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar

HYDRABAD: The district administration of Jamshoro has declared a local holiday in the district on Saturday, February 7, 2025, on the occasion of the 774th annual Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar (RA).

The Deputy Commissioner Office, Jamshoro, has issued a formal notification.

According to the notification, this holiday will be limited to the limits of Jamshoro district only and all government offices and government institutions will remain closed on that day. The purpose of the holiday is to facilitate the pilgrims coming to participate in the Urs celebrations and to improve the arrangements.

The notification states that this holiday is being given in connection with the annual Urs celebrations to be held on 18 Shaban 1447 Hijri. According to the district administration, every year on this occasion, thousands of devotees visit the shrine of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar (RA) and participate in religious rituals.

The order has been issued under the signature of Deputy Commissioner Jamshoro and Chairman District Usher Committee Ghazanfar Ali Qadri, in which all the concerned institutions have been directed to implement the holiday.

During the Urs, special security and administrative measures are also taken in and around the shrine premises so that the pilgrims do not face any kind of problem. The celebrations include collective prayers, gatherings of remembrance and other traditional religious rituals, in which devotees from all over the country participate.

The district administration has directed the citizens to arrange their routines accordingly as due to the holiday, official affairs will remain suspended for a day, while normal official activities will resume the day after the holiday.
