MUZAFFARABAD: The Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has officially declared the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee a banned organization and placed it on the First Schedule under the AJK Anti-Terrorism Act, 2014.
According to a notification issued by the AJK Home Department, the Jammu Kashmir Action Committee, Joint Awami Action Committee, and Awami Action Committee have been included in the list of proscribed organizations.
The notification stated that legal action would be taken against the banned organization in accordance with the law. Copies of the notification have been sent to the President of AJK, the Prime Minister, the Chief Secretary, and other relevant secretaries.
The government said the decision was taken to ensure public safety, maintain law and order, and protect peace in the region. It added that no organization would be allowed to endanger public peace, security, or the state’s administrative order.
According to the notification, there is sufficient evidence indicating that the organization was involved in activities harmful to peace and security and was found to be spreading unrest within the state.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to maintaining stability and enforcing the law across Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
