Karachi braces for more heavy rain, hail risk today

KARACHI: Heavy rain has been predicted in Karachi today as well.

The Meteorological Department says that there is a possibility of rain in Karachi after this afternoon, the clouds are currently in the sea which may move towards the city, one to two spells of heavy rain may come today.

According to the Meteorological Department, there may be 50 mm or more rain today, while the wind speed will be lower than yesterday and there is also a possibility of hail in some places.

The Meteorological Department further said that there have been incidents of billboards falling in the city, the administration was informed about the strong winds.

The Meteorological Department expressed the possibility that light rain is expected on the first day of Eid as well, while the westerly wind may also cause rain in Sindh including Karachi from March 24 to 27.

It should be remembered that 19 people died in various accidents due to heavy rain accompanied by strong winds in different areas of the city yesterday.

Rain accompanied by strong winds lashed various areas including North Nazimabad, North Karachi, Surjani, FB Area, Saddar and Clifton. Rain accompanied by strong winds also lashed Cantt, Railway Colony, Delhi Colony, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulshan-e-Jamal and Garden.

According to the Meteorological Department, the wind speed was recorded at 90 kilometers per hour on Shara-e-Faisal, while the wind speed was recorded at 97 kilometers per hour in Maripur.
