KARACHI: A local court in Karachi has dismissed a petition to declare the marriage certificate of Dua Zahra and Zaheer valid and rejected a petition to declare the marriage certificate fake.

The petition was filed by Dua Zahra herself in an attempt to annul her marriage.

During the hearing, the court remarked that the issue of annulment should not be raised through this petition but at the relevant legal forum.

Dua Zahra, who gained media attention last year, married Zaheer Ahmed of her own free will after meeting him on an online gaming platform. However, the controversy began when she was declared a minor, due to which the authorities shifted her to a shelter home. She was later allowed to go to her own home.

The latest legal proceedings began with Dua Zahra’s attempt to annul her marriage, for which she filed a petition through her father.

However, the court ruled in favor of the validity of the marriage and advised that if necessary, the appropriate legal platform should be approached to dissolve it.
