KARACHI: Karachi’s civic authorities have launched a “No Helmet, No Entry” policy on I.I. Chundrigar Road to instill traffic discipline and minimize accidents.

With this plan, the frequent violations of traffic rules by motorcyclists, who often ride their motorcycles without helmets, will be reduced to an extent because they remain a constant risk to their own lives and that of other road users.

The delineators will also be installed on the road as part of the plan, where thousands of motorcyclists commute daily. The helmet rule will initially be implemented on I.I. Chundrigar Road, but Murtaza Wahab, the mayor of Karachi, intends to extend it to other vital roads across the city.

Wahab reiterated that the ultimate objective remains to have all major roads in Karachi made helmet-compulsory for motorcycle drivers to avoid fatal accidents.
