KP govt introduces new job quota in govt bodies for transgenders

PESHAWAR: In a positive move, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a 0.5% job quota for the transgender community in all governmental departments.

This move aims to promote equal employment opportunities to balance out the economic status of Pakistan.

The eligibility criteria for the job recruitment, transgender candidates must register with the two governmental bodies including the Department of Zakat and Ushr and the Department of Women Development.

The initiative will provide job opportunities for positions up to Grade 15, the applicants will be appointed on the basis of the qualifications and criteria for their respective goals.

This policy presents a positive and progressive step toward addressing social discrimination and fostering a better lifestyle for the transgender community,

It is important to note here that transgender have historically faced social and economic marginalization, as well as none to limited access to education and healthcare.
