Kurram violence claims 30 lives, death toll rises amid ongoing clashes

KURRAM: The tragedy occurs again in Kurram where armed clashes between two groups killed 12 more individuals making the death toll rise to thirty.

Armed individuals set ablaze several houses in the villages of Kalu Kunj, Badshah Kot, and Bagan Bazar in Lower Kurram, leaving behind many innocent women, children, and elderly dead.

According to police officials, the death toll has shot up to 30 within 24 hours with many wounded. The violence has also spread to other areas of Lower Kurram when a passenger van operated from, and en route to Peshawar, came under fire. There are reports that 38 died in this attack with others in critical condition.

During a passage of three to four minutes, while vehicles were coming into and going out of Kurram and Peshawar, this event occurred.

The spokesperson of the DPO Kurram says that the Deputy Commissioner and DPO have reached the site of the incident. The SHO, Yar Muhammad, said the injured were taken to a nearby hospital.

According to reports, in many hospitals across the district, over 37 wounded individuals are receiving treatment, while the dead have been moved to Parachinar for burial. Another victim of another grim reality taking place in yesterday’s attack, the Toori tribe has mourned for three days.

The Kurram firing incident’s preliminary report has been submitted to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to a press note being circulated, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur chaired an important video link meeting at the Chief Minister’s House to review the latest security situation in the Kurram district.

The delegation of the provincial government consists of its provincial law minister, Aftab Alam, adviser to the chief minister on information, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, chief secretary, Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, inspector general of police, Akhtar Hayat Khan, former MNA, Sajid Turi, and the commissioner Kohat Division, Mutasim Billah Shah.
