LAHORE: Lahore’s Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), Amara Athar, has announced a crackdown on motorcyclists riding without valid driving licenses in the city.
As part of a broader effort to enhance road safety and enforce traffic regulations, strict action will be taken against violators, including fines and impoundment of their vehicles.
According to CTO Amara Athar, motorcyclists found riding without a valid license will be slapped with a fine of Rs2,000. Additionally, their motorcycles will be impounded and only returned once they obtain a valid license.
This measure aims to deter individuals from riding without proper documentation and reduce the risk of accidents caused by unlicensed drivers.
To facilitate the process of obtaining a motorcycle license, the CTO has established 10 driving license testing centers across Lahore. This initiative has already benefited over 500,000 citizens this year, providing them with convenient access to license services.
Furthermore, CTO Amara Athar has announced that the 42-day validity period for learner permits has been abolished. This means that individuals will no longer be able to ride motorcycles with a learner’s permit and must obtain a full license before operating a vehicle.
In addition, the fee for obtaining a motorcycle license is Rs930, a relatively affordable amount considering the importance of ensuring road safety.
By taking these measures, the traffic department aims to reduce the number of unlicensed drivers on the road, minimize accidents, and promote a culture of compliance with traffic regulations in Lahore.
Overall, this initiative demonstrates the traffic department’s commitment to making Lahore’s roads safer for all users, and its determination to take strict action against those who violate traffic laws.
