LAHORE: Due to the monsoon season, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has declared that Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore will be closed for three hours daily.

A notice from the CAA states that the airport’s two runways would be closed every day from 5:00 am to 8:00 am, beginning on July 10 and ending on September 10.

Given the higher potential of bird threats during the monsoon season, the decision was made to guarantee the safety of both passengers and aircraft.

All domestic and international flights were notified of the closure by the CAA by NOTAM, and emergency landing facilities will be accessible in the case of an emergency.

The delegation from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) previously gave a progress report on the creation and application of the country’s wildlife hazard management plan.

According to the survey, bird strikes impacted up to 61 aircraft operated by domestic and international carriers in the previous year.

According to statistics shared by a PIA spokesperson, the national flag carrier suffered a loss of millions of rupees due to bird strikes—with 39 bird hits reported in the last 6 months at domestic airports across Pakistan.
