ISLAMABAD: A leopard has been noticed inside the International Islamic University, Islamabad, for which the administration of the International Islamic University has shut down all the blocks and notified the related authorities.

“The university spokesperson has confirmed that the leopard was spotted in the bushes on the campus. This has caused distress among the students,” stated the source.

As a result, the university units were closed down immediately. The wildlife department and police were called to control the situation. The spokesperson further clarified that the university would remain closed until the leopard was apprehended.

The Islamabad Wildlife Team arrived at the university to search for the animal. In the course of the search, they discovered the existence of the leopard. As a preventive measure, they continued with the patrols in an effort to capture the animal.

The public was called to remain composed by the spokesman of the operation to avoid spreading rumors. The IWMB is also keeping a close watch on a recent leopard sighting at the International Islamic University.

Leopards are found in the Margalla Hills National Park and are quite adaptable in nature. Scientific studies have revealed that the leopard’s territory may extend to 20-30 km². Their activities increase at night. Hence, their occasional movement may be possible in neighboring regions.
