KARACHI: In connection with the preparations for Eid-ul-Adha in the city, the Commissioner Karachi has given permission to the KMC to establish cattle markets in different areas of the city.
According to the notification issued by the Commissioner Karachi, regular cattle markets will be set up at 5 important places in the city. This decision will facilitate the citizens in purchasing sacrificial animals.
These places include Athar Bazaar, North Karachi, KMC Ground, Safari Park, and Blocks 5 and 6 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar. These areas have been selected keeping in mind the convenience of the citizens and traffic flow.
In addition, permission has been given to establish cattle markets on vacant plots in Bakra Pedi, Lyari, and Korangi so that uniform facilities can be provided in different parts of the city. Security, cleanliness, and other basic facilities will be ensured in the markets.
It should be noted that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) had initially sought permission to set up cattle markets at 11 locations; however, the Commissioner Karachi has approved 5 locations on a phased basis.
The administration says that better arrangements will be made for citizens visiting the cattle markets, while special measures will also be taken to maintain traffic flow.
This decision is being described as a positive development for citizens, which will make Eid-ul-Azha shopping easier.
